My Uncle James was such a sweet and funny man! I will forever treasure the many memories we have! Heartbroken he is gone, but grateful for the time I DID have with him!
I am a major Alabama fan and we used to playfully bicker, but just for him, I say “War Damn Eagle.”
I love you Uncle James! Rest easy.

Q: What 3 words best describe A. James and why?
A: Giving- Thornton would give you the shirt off his back if he knew it would help. He gave with his time. He gave through his strength. And gave with his heart.
Serving- Served his country, served his guests at his home making everyone feel welcome, and served his church family by his giving, support of the church family, and his time in helping all. Thornton was proud in serving the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) as an officer and spreading the truth for those who took the time to listen.
Loving- Thornton was filled of love for his family, U.S. Marine Comrades, friends, co-workers, church family, SCV family, neighbors, and the staff at the restaurants he would frequent. Thornton is a rare breed where if you took a moment to talk with him and you gained his trust; you gained more than just a friend. You gained his love and support becoming a part of his full circle of life.
