Obituary of Gene Cluck
Please share a memory of Gene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Forrest Eugene Cluck, 86 years of age, entered his Heavenly home peacefully in the comfort of his own earthly home surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 21, 2024. His name is different depending on where you live. If you are from the north, particularly around parts of Illinois, you know him as “Frosty.” If you are from the south, especially in parts of St. Clair County, you know him as Gene. If you have known him in any capacity, you simply call him, “The Best.” Gene was married to the love of his life, Nancy (Peyton) Cluck for nearly 66 years. He spent his life in the oil and gas business for 50 years, and his path ultimately led him to Alabama. He and Nancy raised their family there, and his children remained close by and raised families of their own. He had many loves in his life, and each of those loves made him who he was. Without a doubt, Gene loved His Savior, Jesus Christ. He was truly the hands and feet of Jesus and loved people. His love for his church and church family was undeniable. He also loved his family. His family was his heartbeat and greatest joy. Everything was right in the world when he was with his family, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. He loved country and gospel music and playing the guitar. He loved fishing and the lake. He loved the Crimson Tide. He loved fresh, white bread. He loved front-porch sitting. One thing is certain, and that is he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and living a life on purpose. Gene Cluck was the kind of man who truly left the world a better place, and his life will forever live on in the hearts of all of those who loved him. May our own lives honor him by being like him, by simply being “The Best.”
