Please share a memory of Marvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marvin Thomas “Tommy” Haywood, 62, of Talladega, AL passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 17, 2024 surrounded by his three loving children and son-in-law. A funeral ceremony will be held in his honor at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega with Doug Whaley officiating. His family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Blue Eye Baptist Cemetery. Mr. Haywood was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. He was a proud member of Taylor’s Grove Congregational Holiness Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir with his brother, Frank. Mr. Haywood loved collecting a variety of many eccentric things, and could have been considered an amateur American picker. His jovial, happy go lucky, and jokester personality was always a hit and lit up every room that he entered. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. Mr. Haywood was a devoted family man who was very involved in his children’s lives. He was a very loving father who will be missed greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Bessie Haywood; sisters, Nelda G. Haywood and Rebecca Ann “Becky” Bird; brothers, James Michael Haywood, Richard Wayne Haywood, and Baby Boy Haywood, and sisters-in-law, Shelta Haywood and Debra Haywood. Mr. Haywood is survived by his sons, Marvin Thomas Haywood II and Jonathan Kale Haywood; daughter, Devin Leigh Haywood (Benjamin Payne); brother, Barion Franklin Haywood (Rose); brother-in-law, Mickey Bird; sister-in-law, Wayne Haywood, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Benjamin Payne, Nathan Bird, Chris Bowman, Rodney Mayo, Austin Davis, and Gary Wayne Drummond will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Haywood’s family asks that donations be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society at www.donate.cancer.org or P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Online condolences may be offered at www.usreyfuneralhome.com. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega is directing the services.
