Obituary of Regina Joyce Boswell
Please share a memory of Regina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Regina Joyce Boswell, 74, from Ragland, Al passed peacefully away September 27, at home, surrounded by family. Regina was a life-long member of Creekside Christian Church (formerly United Methodist Church). She was kind, generous, and funny; she loved children, and they loved her. Everywhere she went, they were drawn to her. She often joked that she must smell like crayons, but it wasn’t the crayons, it was the goodness you could feel in her presence. She was known and loved by many as Mrs. Boswell, the teacher, librarian, and counselor. She taught school for thirty-six years, the first four in Moody and the remaining thirty-two in Ragland, including every grade level. She was the JSU Hall of Fame Teacher of the Year. For Christmas, Mrs. Boswell brought the magic of the Polar Express to Ragland, complete with a real train ride, hot chocolate, and snow. From family vacations to Bible School to The Polar Express, she did nothing half-way. Regina’s love lives on through the many lives she’s touched.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jason Liggan; parents, Clovis and Frances Boswell; and brother, Ronny Boswell.
She is survived by her daughter, Gina Merritt (Tommy); grandchildren, Sawyer Merritt (Kirsty), Stoney Merritt (Gracie), and Shepard Merritt (Alex); great-grandchildren, Hattie Grace Merritt, Evelyn Ruth Merritt, and Josiah King Merritt; brothers, Billy Boswell (Janice) and Pete Boswell (Marsha); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The visitation for friends will be held at Creekside Christian Church in Ragland from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 29, 2024, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm with Pastor Anthony Ragsdale officiating.
Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
