Mrs. Judy...
The sweetest lady ever! My grandfather was on the police force when i was a kid. She absolutely loved my daddy, so she adored me. Always had a beautiful smile on her face! She gave me wonderful words and advice when my dad passed away and again when I lost my son! Heaven gained a wonderful angel! I love you Mrs. Judy. I'll see you again.

"Gudy" Williams was like a mother to so many, including me. She worried about us day and night, and only wanted the best for us. And during my time at Talladega PD, everything went thru Judy. Biggest loss I ever had while working there was losing my son. Judy called me every day while I was on duty to check on me. The next biggest loss was the day she retired. I'll always love "Gudy"!!!

During my 16 years serving as mayor of Talladega, Ala, I was privileged to have worked with Judy Williams. Judy served faithful as an employee of the city of Talladega serving as a police officer, radio dispatcher and assistant to the chief of police.
In this position, not only was she a dedicated, loyal employee but her personality, demeanor and ability to have a calming effect on some of the worst of citizens was helpful and appreciated. Judy never abused her position and was a tremendous asset from the time she became an employee until her retirement. Judy earned the respect of each employee of the police department as well as the other employees of the. City as she so affectionately showed her willingness to assist and treat everyone with respect.
Judy Hamby Williams was not only a first class Christian in dress and action on Sunday, but seven days a week. The city of Talladega has suffered the loss of a genuine citizen.

Judy Williams. One of a kind. On behalf of every police officer and paramedic that walked through the doors of TPD , we say thank you Judy. You were always there to smile , listen, talk to us. You alwsys greeted us with a smile. You raised a bunch of young police officers and paramedics. You were the glue that kept us together. You loved us and even got onto us to set us straight. I know you suffered pain but in death you go forward and find joy with being with God. I am sure you are at the front gate of Heaven welcoming others. May God bless your family with the thoughts of how many people you affected in your life. I am not sadden by your death but rejoice in the knowledge that you are in Heaven and happy. I am sure you are still looking out on the rest of us.

My heart is broken to find out the news of the loss of my dear sweet friend. Judy was very special to me and was there for me in the most horrific times in my life and life of my family and children. She always met me with a beautiful smile and reassuring hug. She made me laugh in those tough times. She loved sharing tid bits about her children and always spoke of them so lovingly.
God has gained an angel, I will miss you beautiful lady.. Until we meet again, my friend

Q: What will you miss most about Judy?
A: My sweet Judy, I only knew her at the end but she was the sweetest person I ever meant. She always made sure I didn't go without. Also her sense of humor always made my day, and put a smile on my face. I will never forget Judy, she was like a grandma to me. ❤️

I first met "Ms. Judy" when I was five years old. My dad had been at Talladega PD for a couple of years, and we had all just moved to Talladega.
I literally grew up in the department. Back then, it was common-place for us cop-kids to hang around the PD while we waited for our dads' shifts to end. My favorite place was in Ms. Judy's office.
This was my favorite place for many reasons. I always knew that Ms. Judy would feed me; She would always talk to me; and she always treated me like I was one of her own.
She had a plastic bag in the bottom drawer of her filing cabinet that was full of little, plastic Junior Officer badges that the officers would hand out when they would visit the local schools, but I had access to them any time that I wanted one. I probably owe TPD hundreds of dollars for the plastic badges that I took.
As I got older, Ms. Judy would listen to anything that I wanted to talk about. Her advice on girls was usually to the effect of, "Aw, Eric...you're too young to worry about that right now."
When I came home from overseas in 2003, the chief called me to offer me a job. I came up, passed the PT test, and it was sweet Ms. Judy who swore me in with tears in her eyes.
My entire family absolutely loved her. She was like a sister to both my parents, and a special aunt to me and my brother.
When she retired, I was on shift. Her party was in the courtroom, and I was tied up for most of the day. By the time that I got cleared up to drop by, the party was over. I did have the pleasure of helping some of the guys rip up the yellow parking spot curb that was stenciled "Judy Judy Judy" so that it could be taken to her home.
I know that her family will miss her terribly. For them, I say:
"Your "Ms. Judy" was a very special person with a heart the size of Texas. She is one of those people that God placed exactly where she would impact the lives of THOUSANDS. May God bless each of you and keep you through this time."

Q: Describe where Judy worked and what they did
A: Judy was the glue that held the Talladega Police Department together.
I first met her when I was nine years old after my Dad took over the Chief's job. Judy quickly became family. She loved me just like one of her own. Our two families became one family as time went by. Judy helped me when I started my career as an officer as she did with so very many of us. She calmed our temper tantrums and gave sympathy to our problems. She was a Mother to many police officers. How we all love her and long to see her again in heaven. Our family will be reunited again one day!
