Roland Douglas “Doug” Camp Jr., 78, of Talladega, AL passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
Doug was born in Anniston, AL on July 7, 1946 to Roland Camp Sr. and Mary Jon Camp. After graduating from Munford High School, he went on to play football on scholarship at the University of Georgia for 2 years. He then started his career with State Farm Insurance which he retired from after 50 years of service. Mr. Camp also served in the Alabama National Guard. In 1965, he met his wife Kathy in Munford, AL and they went on to have two daughters, Christa and Chrissy Camp. He was a member of Cornerstone Worship Center in Anniston, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Sr. and Mary Jon Camp, and his brother-in-law, Rudy Abbott.
Mr. Camp is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathy Camp; daughters, Christa Camp and Chrissy Camp; brother, Steve Camp (Freda); sister, Sue Abbott, and nephews and niece, Jeff Sims, Brian Sims, Shea Camp, and Kelly Abbott Hahn—who he thought of as his own children.
