Obituary of Carl D Monroe Jr.

Carl D Monroe, son of Carl D "Red" and Sula Monroe of Talladega, Alabama was born October 18, 1933. He passed away in Milton, FL on Wednesday, April 03, 2024. A graveside ceremony will be held in his honor at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 06, 2024 at Highland Gardens in Anniston, AL with Travis Ford officiating. Mr. Monroe attended Talladega High School and married the former Martha Jo Johnson in 1959. After graduating from the University of Alabama, he worked in Birmingham AL where he began working with various elements of the State Department of Education, particularly the Vocational Rehabilitation Service, later in Anniston. He opened a new office there in 1976 and moved to Montgomery 1979 as assistant director for deaf and blind services. He retired in 1989 to Navarre, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jo Monroe in 2009. Mr. Monroe is survived by his children, Carl D Monroe III, Jeffrey Wade Monroe and Julie Lynn Monroe, grandchildren, Jeffrey W Monroe Jr., Payton Monroe Garrett (Ashton), and Reece Monroe, and two great grandchildren.
