Mr. Delayne Phillips, 66, of Pell City, Alabama, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, in Birmingham. Mr. Phillips was born and raised in South Coal City and grew up attending New Prospect Baptist Church and Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He attended Pell City High School where he met the love of his life, Vickie Armstrong, whom he married and later they had two sons, Kerry and Jeff. Delayne was a very successful carpenter by trade but, most importantly, he was a wonderful father, granddaddy, great-granddaddy, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Phillips and Louise Phillips; sister, Deanna Small; and brother, Delon Phillips. He is survived by his sons, Kerry Phillips and Jeff Phillips (Amanda); grandchildren, Montana Parnell, Logan Phillips, Makayla Phillips, Hannah Webber, and Grayson Phillips; great-grandson, Xander Nolan; step-mom, Mary Phillips; sister, Denise Blakely (Gene); uncle, Wayne Gallegly (Becky); brother-in-law, Gene Small; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service honoring his life will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City with Rev. Jeff Phillips officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Pope’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
