Albert David Stanford (known affectionately to his friends as David Sr.), was born on October 1, 1952, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He passed from this life and walked through the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. David Sr. was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Waymon Stanford Sr., and his beloved mother, Reba Grace Stanford. David is survived by his sons, Albert David Jr. (wife Kate Lynn) and Adam Duane. He is also survived by his siblings, Marvin Jr. (wife Carol) and Wayne Stanford along with a host of nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Elizabeth Grace Simmons (Husband Drake), Greyson May, and David Ray Stanford III. David Sr. also leaves behind his two dogs, Molly and Skippy, who were a delight to him and to all of the children at his church, who waited anxiously to play with Molly and Skippy after church services ended. David was a graduate of Talladega High School and a member of the Vincent, Alabama National Guard and retired from the Talladega National Guard. David attended the Talladega Bible Methodist church, as had members of his family since David was a young boy. David was was a good friend to the congregation there and his absence will be felt significantly by his church family. Anyone who knew David knew that he never met a stranger. He had a winning smile that could light up a room and loved talking to people. He was generous, friendly, and endlessly funny. He enjoyed being with others and especially spending time with his sons working on countless automobiles in Little David’s garage. He loved dogs, bird hunting, and old cars. David Sr. was deeply loved and will be deeply missed by all that knew him. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him". Funeral services will be held 11:am Tuesday March 8, 2022, at Usrey Funeral home Chapel, with burial in Pine Hill Memorial Park, his family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega.
