Obituary of Johnny Winslett Phillips, Jr.

Mr. Johnny Winslett Phillips, Jr., 73, of Ragland, Alabama passed away on November 1, 2021. Mr. Phillips was a member of Ragland United Methodist Church, a member of the James D. Truss Masonic Lodge 515, and was employed by National Cement for over 30 years. He was a 1966 graduate of Gadsden High School, played basketball while attending Gadsden State, and was a former Jr. High Science teacher and coach. He was an avid deer hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Theo Phillips; sister, Charlotte Lee; and his mother-in-law, Dolly Boswell. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Boswell Phillips; daughter, Nancy Phillips (Edrick Nickerson); father-in-law, Otis Boswell; nieces, Jennifer Goolsby, Michelle Morris & Katie Spinks; nephews, Phillip Lee, Josh Ford, Mark Ford, Stedman Poe & Jacob Clark; sisters-in-law, Debbie Ford (Steve), Angie Cobb (Greg), & Jennifer Clark (Bill); and several great-nieces & great-nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Ragland Methodist Church with Rev. Lanis White and Rev. Jack Washington officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm at the church. Pallbearers will be Stedman Poe, Josh Ford, Mark Ford, Jacob Clark, Justin Spinks, Casey Upscomb, Cade Walker, Phillip Lee and Marion Jaggers.
