Mr. Johnny Winslett Phillips, Jr., 73, of Ragland, Alabama passed away on November 1, 2021. Mr. Phillips was a member of Ragland United Methodist Church, a member of the James D. Truss Masonic Lodge 515, and was employed by National Cement for over 30 years. He was a 1966 graduate of Gadsden High School, played basketball while attending Gadsden State, and was a former Jr. High Science teacher and coach. He was an avid deer hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Theo Phillips; sister, Charlotte Lee; and his mother-in-law, Dolly Boswell. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Boswell Phillips; daughter, Nancy Phillips (Edrick Nickerson); father-in-law, Otis Boswell; nieces, Jennifer Goolsby, Michelle Morris & Katie Spinks; nephews, Phillip Lee, Josh Ford, Mark Ford, Stedman Poe & Jacob Clark; sisters-in-law, Debbie Ford (Steve), Angie Cobb (Greg), & Jennifer Clark (Bill); and several great-nieces & great-nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Ragland Methodist Church with Rev. Lanis White and Rev. Jack Washington officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm at the church. Pallbearers will be Stedman Poe, Josh Ford, Mark Ford, Jacob Clark, Justin Spinks, Casey Upscomb, Cade Walker, Phillip Lee and Marion Jaggers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ragland Methodist Cemetery Fund. Condolences may be offered online at www.usreyfuneralhome.com. Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City, is in charge of arrangements.
