Obituary of Eddie B. Stewart

Eddie B. Stewart, 73, of Eastaboga, AL., passed away on April 30, 2021. Funeral Services will be at 2:00pm, Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Usrey Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Eastaboga Baptist Church. Ray Camp will officiate the service. His family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00pm, Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at the funeral home. Eddie was a native and lifelong resident of Eastaboga, AL. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator and a farmer, but farming is what he loved to do the most, he always said that farming never felt like work or a job to him because he enjoyed it so much. He is preceded in death by his parents, Enoch D. Stewart and Reba Alta Haynes, and his sister, Patsy Marlene Hall. He attended Eastaboga Elementary School and Lincoln High School Class of 1966. He is survived by his first wife Amelia Hutto Stewart, their 3 children, daughter, Nancy LeAnn Stewart; sons, Eddie Douglas Stewart (Kristy) and Dustin Hugh Stewart (Ginny); and his grandchildren, Eddie Daniel Stewart (Billie Jo) and Derek Everett Stewart; his sister, Linda Nelson (Ricky), along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In 1980, he built his first race car, #12, and began racing at Talladega Short Track. As soon as the sons were old enough to drive it quickly became a family hobby and Stewart Racing was born. You could always count on him being at the track to watch his boys #47, #247 and his grandson #347 race for the checkered flag. To say that he was proud of them is an understatement. He also enjoyed taking his boat out and fishing. But more than anything else he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. They were his world, and he was theirs. He was a loving and devoted son, father, Grandfather “Pop”, and friend who will be truly missed. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Wallace, David Dulaney, Tony Haynes, Ed Cash, Brian Casey and Tim Griffin. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Griffin, David Griffin, Danny Sadliner, Shannon Vincent, Hoyt Watts, Jason Lively, Mike McWilliams, Shane Turner, Oneal Marler, Tony Gray and Edd Jewel.
