Name: Mrs. Emma Geraldine Sanders Age: 86 Residence: Ashville, Alabama Date of Death: April 4, 2016 Place of Death: Ashville, Emma was born in Blount County but lived most of her life in Shoal Creek Valley and was a lifelong member of Greensport Baptist Church where she was a devoted member of the Joy Sunday School Class. She was entertainer, storyteller and first base ballplayer for her great-grandchidren. Her hobbies included gardening, bird watching and making greeting cards. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Buster" Sanders, daughter Vicki Sanders, and by two grandchildren Jennifer Sanders and Justin Hyatt. Survivors: Daughters: Diane Chumley (Roger), and Gail Hyatt; Sons: Harold R. Sanders (Rita) and Wade Sanders; Sister: Mary Lucille Beck; Brother: John M. Harris: 5 Grandchildren; 6 Great-Grandchildren; "Special Brother and Sister:" Austin and Joyce Sanders; and by a host of nieces and nephews who loved her as well as her fried apple pies. Service: 11:00 am on Wednesday April 6, 2016 at Greensport Baptist Church Clergy: Rev. Jeremy Williams Cemetery: Adjoining Cemetery Visitation: Wednesday, 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the church Pallbearers will be Justin Northam, Dewayne Chumley, Jake Layfield, Ben Gersh, Josh Campbell,Tom Sanders and Scott Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Joy Sunday School Class of Greensport Baptist Church. Contributions: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Youth Program of Greensport Baptist Church, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
