Obituary of Richard Andrew Watkins

Richard Andrew Watkins, age 83, of Cropwell, Alabama went to be with our Lord on December 8, 2015. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Mr. Watkins was an active member and deacon at Berney Points Baptist and later at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School director for 25 years. He worked for the City of Birmingham Engineering Department for 35 years before retiring. After retirement Dick enjoyed his love of music by playing the dulcimer and forming the Mt. Pisgah Pickers. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Richard Bolin. Mr. Watkins is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Fae Anne Wright Watkins, daughters Vickie (Paul) Huckeba, Melanie (Myron) Freeman, Leslie Bolin and Stephanie (Keith) Clowers; grandchildren Ashley Huckeba, Addison (Lauren) Clowers, Austin Huckeba, Andrew Bolin, Mason Freeman, Katy Clowers, Morgan Freeman, and Hayden Clowers; brothers Ed Watkins and Bob Watkins; and by his faithful granddog Ace. A celebration service will be held Thursday, December 10th at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Cropwell, AL with burial at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 – 12:00 with the service to follow at noon. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Mt.
