I am sorry I did not know of Mike's funeral until the Monday after the service.
My memories of growing up with Mike and Dwight are very precious.
Growing up out in the country we had to entertain ourselves and boy did we have fun doing it.
The great times we had camping in the tree house and tent camping over in the woods. The hours and hours we spent playing Army and playing football in the front yard. The fun we had "playing in the dirt" with our toy trucks. Riding bicycles, fishing in our pond, hunting with our BB guns, and going down to the creek and going swimming.
In the summer we could ride the City Bus ( caught the bus at Mom's store) to town on Tuesday morning to go to the Martin Theater for the Matinee, it cost 10 cents to get in, but alot more by the time we ate our fill of popcorn, Red Hots, and Junior Mints. On Sunday afternoon in the summer we would all get together and cut a watermelon and when we ate our fill we would have a water melon rine battle. I will never forget shooting fireworks over the Christmas/New Years holidays. We just had a great time at what ever we did.
I am very thankful to have had Mike and Dwight for friends and their Mom and Dad were great neighbors.
