Obituary of Richard "Scooter" Oi

Funeral services for Mr. Richard “Scooter” Oi of Pell City will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 3, 2015 at Pell City First United Methodist Church in The Beacon with Rev. Arthur Harrison officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Childersburg. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 PM at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City. Richard "Scooter" Oi is survived by his wife Carolyn Jones Oi, his daughter Pink Floyd, his adopted family: Mother Blanche Pearson (John Sprayberry), his brother Sam Jones (LuAnn Jones), his sisters Linda Mitchell, and Jennifer Davis (The Donald Davis), his nieces and nephews Tyler, Stephanie, Corey, Mandy, Brad, Troy, Ethan, Dallas, and a plethora of friends from not only Pell City, but all over the world. Scooter's job as a production manager and lighting guy took him all over the world. He experienced things on a daily basis that most people only dream about. He's worked for many bands over the years. In fact, it's easier to list who he hasn't worked for than who he has. Here are a few: Lynyrd Skynyrd, Peter Frampton, C&C Music Factory, Kris Kross, Boz Scaggs, Indigo Girls, TLC, and so many more. Scooter's quick wit, quirky ways, funny stories, and extraordinary personality will be just a few of the things that will be missed. To quote Scooter, "Anyone who gets teary should be reminded that I lived a longer and more complete life than most of the people I knew who never made it out of their thirties.
