Scooter, if you only knew how much I miss you. People say “he’s in a better place” or. “You’ll be together again one day”. Really??? Are you better off without me? Is that a “better” place? I know I’m not better off without you. How can it be better when we are apart.
6 years … it has been a long and painful time. I don’t talk about it much anymore. What’s the point. It doesn’t change anything. But the pain is there.
I am sad and heartbroken and my inner core has been damaged beyond repair. Most of the time I just get up and go to work and the day goes by. I laugh or cuss someone out … normal stuff… but always I think “I wish you were here. But this day, the last week, each year I allow myself to be quite, depressed, sad and lonely. This day each year I let myself cry and have pity on myself. This is the day I let go and stop trying to be okay.
I love you Scooter Oi and I miss you so much my heart feel like it no longer beats.

Scooter was so talented as a Lighting Designer. His lighting for National Finals Rodeo and Carnaval Fantastique were terrific. We lost touch when we heard that he and Carolyn had gone to open a guitar shop in Alabama. He was a strong businessman so we knew this was the right decision for them.
All of us at YLS Entertainment, Marty Canavan, Steve Campbell, Mike Gilbert, Rob Hasseler, Kristin Neary, Blake Putnam and myself will keep Carolyn and her family in our thoughts and prayers.

Scooter had such a wonderful sense of humor. You have to be smart enough to to see it. He could do such a dead pan face and if you were standing right there you knew what he was doing. I don't how many times I had to walk away so I didn't blow the joke. Scooter and Marcus on Salt and Pepa-all the stories they would tell. I would have tears rolling down my face laughing so hard.
My favorite will always be him yelling up at Marcus asking how did he miss RA with par64 lamp. RA was so mad and walked off-Marcus stund then started laughing. Scooter turned and looked at me with a great big smile and laugh then just walk off to some work. Like that was an everyday occurance.
The kind man Scooter was-when Dino disappeared in Texas with in 3 hrs from when he was told Scooter made up missing posters and was out them up everywhere.
Scooter you were an amazing person and I will miss you!

Carolyn,
For me, a man's worth is measured by the well-being and happiness of his family. How fortunate I am that you found Scooter and we became the family that received his never ending love, care, compassion and support.
Scooter's worth is immeasurable, a rare individual who left a legacy of joy in his wake as he happily barreled through life. I am thankful for all he did for you, Mother and the rest of our family and I will always miss seeing you two together.
I love you, Sam

Carolyn brought Scooter into my life - one of the best things that ever happened to me. We liked and respected each other immediately. Very quickly we came to love one another. Anyone who has felt Scooter's love, knows how special that makes you feel. My welfare was at the top of his list, right up there with Carolyn. He sold his home and left his roadie life to move to Alabama so they would be here for me. He was so concerned about my health, safety and happiness and constantly surprised me with gifts I didn't even know I wanted or needed. Scooter really observed his friends and would find the perfect memento or gift for them. He had such a strong impact on everyone who knew him, so he will live on through others. Scooter, I will always be your mother and you will always be my beloved son. I am so thankful you came into my life.

Scooter is my brother in law.
He was interesting, kind, intelligent & very humorous, but my favorite characteristic about him is, he loved my sister to the nth degree.
I will miss knowing that when I enter their store or their house, I can peek around the wall and see him sitting at is desk and give him my typical,
"Hey Scooter, what's happenin'?....Carolyn here?"
I'll miss his accounting of Joneses in the store. (no more than 4 at a time)
And his generosity of making the Jones Family Band sound great during our many late night jam sessions and of course with plenty of food. I can't listen to Warren Zevon or Queen without thinking of Scooter. I love his "Sofa" song from his Learn to Run album. It is so him.
Since Sunday, I have been shocked, crushed, mellow & mad.
Now I am just extremely and sometimes uncontrollably heartbroken, for my sister.
I loved Scooter and he will be terribly missed.
