He is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Malone West (Dave), Fayetteville, GA; sons Gordon Hage Malone, Bluffton, SC; John Tenison Malone (Debbie), Talladega; James Edward Malone, Ashland; grandchildren Lauren Malone and Catherine Malone, Tucker, GA; Julie Malone, Philadelphia, PA; Erin Hart (Peter), Bristow, VA; Harvey James Sellers, IV, Corvallis, OR; John T. Malone, Jr, (Angela), Acworth, GA; Daniel Malone and Christopher Malone, Talladega, AL; Carrie Margaret Malone, Memphis, TN, and James Patrick Malone, Birmingham; great grandchildren Thomas Boyd Hart and William Ryan Hart; a sister, Lucretia Malone Davenport, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; a niece, Lynn Mount Rudder, Atlanta GA; and a nephew, John McRoberts Mount, Jr., Athens, GA.William Charles Malone, III, scion of two of Talladega's prominent families from the late 1890s and early 1900s, passed away Sunday, December 23, at the age of 95. Born in Attalla on Nov. 28, 1917, to William C. Malone, Jr., and Lassie Weaver Malone, William graduated from Talladega High School in 1936. After a year at Gulfport Academy, Gulfport, MS, he enrolled in Auburn University, graduating in 1941 with a degree in pharmacy. While at Auburn, he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He was a partner in Owl Drug Company with his father and he operated the family drug store until his retirement in 1987. Following retirement, he and is wife, Audrey traveled the globe experiencing new sights and cultures. William was an avid golfer and was a charter member of a fraternity of colorful local golfers who called themselves the OFO (Old Folks' Open). Affectionately called by his golfing buddies, "The Green Hornet", he shot his only hole-in-one at the age of 85. He was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Talladega. He was a member of the Talladega Rotary Club for over 40 years and consistently was the top fundraiser/salesman for the club's Rotary Radio Days, Boston Butt Sales and Golf Tournaments. He was recognized for his hard work and loyal service by receiving numerous club awards and honors including Rotarian Of The Year. He was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow in 1992. Known for his enjoyment of life and always possessing a positive attitude and a smile, he was quite a storyteller. He was always quick to share a funny story or travel experience among friends and at family gatherings. He spent the past five years living at NHC Place in Anniston, Alabama, where he developed many new friendships. He always seemed to be in the center of social activities and was known for his competitive edge in bingo and his daily game of dominoes with friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Audrey Hage Malone and his son, William "Bill" Charles Malone, IV.
