Obituary of Merrie Beth VanDall Blackmon

Merrie Beth VanDall Blackmon departed this life on April 5, 2012. Beth was born July 4, 1950 i Akron, Ohio. She graduated from L. Frazier Banks High School in 1968 where she was active in the Women's Athletic Association. She graduated from Birmingham Southern University in 1971 (Magna Cum Laude) in Greek and Latin. Beth was a Locensed Family Therapist and worked for the government for many years. In 1992, Beth earned he Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After retiring, she stated and conducted a weekly therapy group at the YWCA (St.Clair County). She was a devoted friend to all animals and loved Alabama football. She was the daughter of the late Edwin M. VanDall, Sr. and Virginia Vandall of Pell CIty. She is survived by her niece, Lexis VanDall, sister-in-law Mary Palmer, Sister Marsha Guerrero (Jose), and by her brother, Edwin M."Ted" VanDall, Jr. (Suzanne). Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 2:00 PM at St.Clair Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Carrie Leland will officiate.
