Billy Joe Blake Thompson Station, TN - Billy Joe Blake, 79, retired from Genesco, in Nashville, TN, died Wednesday March 14 at Bordeaux Long Term Care in Nashville, TN. Born in Wedowee, Alabama, Blake made his home in Nashville, TN for 40 years and most recently lived in Thompson Station, TN since 2001. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, involved in the local community in Nashville with McGavock High School Athletic Club, and Civitan Club. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Spring Hill, TN. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Vincent Blake, Thompson Station, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Peggy Blake, Franklin, TN; daughter-in-law, Mary Jemmott Blake, Hoover, AL; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Jane Blake, Foley, AL; and grandchildren, Lauren, Shelby, Jessica and Julie Blake. Preceded in death by parents Lumus and Vera Blake, Wedowee, AL, brother, Griffen Blake, Russellville, AL, and son, Mike Blake, Childersburg, AL. Funeral services will be at 2pm Saturday at Usrey Funeral Home, 516 North Street East, Talladega, AL with Pastor J. C. Christian of First Baptist Church Spring Hill, TN officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Eye Baptist Church Cemetery in Lincoln, AL with nephews serving as pallbearers. Nieces will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be from (5:30P PM – 8:00 PM) Friday March 16 and one hour prior to services at 2:00 PMSaturday March 17 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. Memorial contributions may be made to Mike Blake Scholarship Fund, c/o Childersburg High School, 122 Fay Perry Drive, Childersburg, AL 35044; or First Baptist Church Building Fund, 5219 Main Street, Spring Hill, TN 37174; or Blue Eye Baptist Church and Cemetery Fund, 46750 US 78, Lincoln, AL 35096.
