Thelma Holmes Warlick, age 98, born October 31, 1913 went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, January 14th, 2012. Aunt Thelma was a native of Talladega and remained in Talladega County all of her life. She was one of the original members of the Wesleyan Church where she taught Sunday school, worked in Womens Outreach, Organized Mission work, worked in the nursery and with the youth group. She later attended and is currently a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church in Talladega, where she faithfully served until just a few years ago. She worked for many years at the Bemis plant in Bemiston and remembered when only dirt road lead to Talladegas downtown square. Aunt Thelma became a resident of Talladega Healthcare Facility in 2009. Whenever anyone visited her, the staff and other residents always talked about the blessing that Aunt Thelma was. Anyone that walked in the room would get a smile, and Praise the Lord it has been such a great day.
She was a beloved wife, an adored aunt, a cherished friend, and above all a servant of her Lord. Her greatest joy in life was to be a witness and to make sure everyone she came in contact with had the opportunity to hear the gospel. Many have said her prayers were the sweetest and certainly filled Heavens presence. She will be missed by all that knew her, but her love of her God and the love for her family will leave a lasting legacy for many generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Anthony Warlick, a sister Pearl Holmes Wright, a brother, Collie Holmes, nephew Jeff Lackey.
She is survived by Nephews: Mike (Teresa) Lackey, Byron (Jackie) Lackey, and Todd (Cayla) Lackey, Jason Lackey, Chase Lackey, Brad Lackey, Lance Lackey, Matthew Lackey, Nieces: Kristin Lackey, Stephanie Lackey Warren, Shaye Lackey as well as eight great, great, great nieces and nephews.
