Obituary of Edith Ann Mitchell Coley

Graveside services for Mrs. Edith Ann Mitchell Coley, 77, will be Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Hill Cemetery, with Rev Gerry Davis officiating. Mrs. Coley passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011, in Carrollton, Georgia. She was born in Talladega, Alabama on July 30,1934, the daughter of the late Rodger Mitchell and the late Louise Roberson Mitchell. She was a graduate of Talladega High School and was the Salutatorian of her class. Mrs. Coley attended the University of Alabama for one year and later graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1988. She had resided in Carrollton, Georgia since 1993. She had been active with the Alabama Civil Air Patrol. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, crossword puzzles, and volunteering at the local library. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Patterson, in 1971, and her second husband, Malcolm "Mal" Coley, Sr., in 1996. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Mitchell and Alfred Mitchell. Mrs. Coley is survived by her daughters, Paula Cater and son-in-law Ken Cater, and Lynne loannides (Michael). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Cater (Beth), Meighan Cater Browning (Ben), and Maria loannides, and great grandson, Colton Cater. Additional survivors include sisters, Betty Bright and Nellie Mann, and nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Ken Cater, Michael Cater, Ben Browning, Hollis Mann, Michael Casalvieri, and Frank Joswick.
