Jere was part of the heart and especially the soul of the League of California Cities where I wkroed and was privileged to know both him and Madeleine for many years. His genuinely good heart was reflected in his smile, the twinkle in his eyes and his kindness to all. He doesnât need to be afforded sainthood in death, as heâd already achieved that status in life. Although my relationship to the Meloâs was strictly work related; Iâm sure thousands of Californians share my feelings that this is not just a communal loss, but rather a personal loss. My sympathy extends to Jereâs family, friends and colleagues throughout the state; the world. RIP Jere.Liz Birmingham, Sacramento, CA.

It is so terribly sad the way our families have separated and hate each other like the Hatfield and the McCoys for decades now. I remember how much fun we all had when we were kids playing together. I will never forget you Alice. God bless you children and grandchildren. i have heard great things in Christ Jesus about you all. I have not seen your Mother since she was in ICU the week my Mother died in 1990. LOVE and PEACE to all. Judy
