He was an instructor at UAB for Nurse Anesthetists as well as being a member of the first Kidney Transplant Team. He worked for 15 years as a Nurse Anesthetist at St. Clair Regional Hospital. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, serving in the US Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard as a Hospital Corpsman.
