OBITUARY: Mrs. Irene Nanny Pate (Pell City)
Irene Nanny Pate went to her heavenly home on November 25, 2013. She was born on January 30, 1924 in Etowah County, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her father, Jennings Nix and her mother, Mollie Nix; husband, Woodson Pate; brothers and their wives Roscoe and Cena Nix, Ellis and Letha Nix, Berlie and Earline Nix; sister, Ruth Elkins and husband Buster Elkins; sisters Ophelia Nix and Lucille Nix; nephew, J.B. Nix; and by a niece, Brenda McClellan.
Mrs. Pate is survived by her son, Roger (Sherry) Pate; grandsons Jason Pate and Brandon Pate; great-grandson River Pate; and by several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many loving adopted children she cared for as toddlers who knew her as Nanny.
Mrs. Pate was a lifelong member of Warrior River Baptist Church in Walnut Grove, Alabama.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pate will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 28, 2013 at Warrior River Baptist Church. She will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to service time. The Rev. Thomas McDaniel and the Rev. Calvin Butler will officiate. Burial will follow at Forrest Cemetery in Gadsden. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 27 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City.
