Obituary of Donald M. Naman

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Joanne Naman. He is survived by daughter Sharon Griffin (Bryan) of Charlotte, NC., sons Donald Naman ( Leigh Ann) of Odenville, AL; Kevin Naman (Tammi) of Springfield, VA serving in the U.S. Air Force; Joseph Naman (Mary) of Kailua, HI serving in the U.S. Navy; sister Grace Bakos (Don) of Grand Rapids MI; and grandchildren, Taylor, Erin, Ryan, Ross Naman and Justin,Pallbearers will be Bobby Allison, Craig Waschko, Bryan Griffin, Roy McCaig, Charlie Snider and Ronnie Busby.in Griffin.Mr. Naman passed away on 25 July at home in Lincoln AL. He was a native of Brooklyn, NY and had lived in Lincoln for the past 41years. Mr. Naman was in the U.S. Air Force and the USAF Reserve TN from 1953 to 1962 and served in the Berlin Crisis; Manager of the Smoky Mountain Raceway in Maryville, TN from 1965 to 1969; was Vice President and General Manager of Talladega Super Speedway from 1970 to 1988, and Director of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame from 1988 to 2000. Mr. Naman received numerous prestigious awards for his military service and long career with NASCAR and the motorsports industry.Father Michael Sexton officiating.the family receiving friends at the Naman home after the burial service.
