I first met Art around 1990, when he graciously accompanied my mother on a trip to see my rock 'n roll band (very loud rock 'n roll, mind you) play a show in Jacksonville, Alabama. Through the years, I got to know Art on a more personal level, and am very thankful for being able to do so. He was one of the most kind, thoughtful, and gentle human beings a person could ever meet (not to mention smart as a whip). I cherish the time I was able to spend with him, and am eternally grateful for the joy and love he brought to my mother's life, as well as my own. When I think back now to our first encounter at that raucus college bar, it really puts it into perspective for me as to the kind of guy Art was- a man who enjoyed life, wasn't afraid to try something new, and would do anything for those he loved and cared about. You'll live in our hearts and memories forever, Art.
