Obituary of Buford Clark Carpenter

Mr. Carpenter was a native of Lynnville, TN. He resided in Birmingham for fifty years prior to moving to Talladega in 1987. Mr. Carpenter was a member of First Baptist Church and a graduate of Chillicothe Business College in Missouri. He was employed as an accountant with United States Steel Company for forty years. Mr. Carpenter served his country in World War II with the "Chennault Flying Tigers" in China. For this service he received various honors including the China War Memorial and the World War II Victory Medal. He is preceeded in death by his wife, Lorene Carpenter; and brother, Turner Carpenter. Survivors are his son, Clark Carpenter of Talladega; daughter-in-law, Marlene Carpenter of Talladega; granddaughter, Kelli Fleming of Birmingham; son-in-law, Bains Fleming of Birmingham; grandson, Reid Carpenter of Birmingham; and niece, Joyce Ranson of Charleston, West Virginia. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Talladega.
