Mr. Maurice E. Cooper, 71, of Ashville, AL passed away on April 19, 2015 in Ashville. Mr. Cooper was a member and deacon of Pine Forest Baptist Church. He was retired from the St. Clair County Road Department with over 31 years of service. He loved to play the guitar and sing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia and Elliott Cooper and by his brothers, John Cooper and Bill Ludwick. He is survived by his Wife: Dorothy June Cooper, Son: Rodney (Anita) Cooper, Granddaughter: Alaina Cooper, Grandson: Alexander Cooper, Sister-in-Law: Diane (Jim) Horne, Nieces: Amy (Heath) Fleming, Ginger (Stan) Ivey, Great-Nieces: Ryley Fleming, Rowan Ivey, Great-Nephews: Zack Fleming, Davis Ivey, Sister-in-Law: Sylvia Cooper. Services will be at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City with Rev. Paul Williams officiating. Interment will follow at St. Clair Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pine Forest Baptist Church. The family would like to say a special thanks to all our church family and friends, and also to the staff of Amedysis Hospice.
