Obituary of Faye Sherman Sims

Graveside service for Mrs. Faye S. Sims will be held October 18, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Hill Memorial Park, 35036 Alabama Highway 21, Talladega, Alabama. Usrey Funeral Home will direct. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Bluff Park United Methodist Church in Hoover, Alabama, with visitation to follow. Rev. Mike Holly will direct the services. Mrs. Sims went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 16, 2013, at the age of 89. She is survived by her children Jane Shepherd (Stan), Jim Sims (Jane), Ann Holder (Andy), and Martha Holmes (Bobby), her eight grandchildren Matt Shepherd (Tiffany), Sadie Brown (Lee), Katherine Thompson (Philip), Jay Sims (Jeanna), Andrew Holder (Leakhena), Ashley Crowe (Ryan), Corey Holmes (Lynn), Crissy Wood (Bryan), twelve great-grandchildren, brothers Zane Sherman and Larry Sherman, and sister Betty Jo Weiss. She was preceded in death by her husband James Anthony Sims, Jr., her parents Joseph O. and Ozella Conner Sherman, and sisters Joyce Beard and Mable White. Mrs. Sims retired from the Alabama School for the Deaf in Talladega, Alabama. She was a member of Concord United Methodist Church in Renfroe, Alabama, and later at Bluff Park United Methodist Church in Hoover, Alabama. She served her country during WWII as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Concord United Methodist Church, 85 Concord Church Road, Talladega, Alabama, 35160, or to Bluff Park United Methodist Church, 733 Valley Street, Hoover, Alabama, 35226.
