Glenda Gail Brooks Strickland finished her race on Monday Oct 14, 2013. Gail was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered for the way she cared for others, her infectious laughter, and her love of life.
"Nanny's house" was the place we loved to gather to celebrate the good times, enjoy her great hospitality, and to comfort each other in times of loss. She made us "comfort food", taught us life lessons, encouraged our dreams, and made us want to be better people. Family was the most important thing to her, and it showed in the way she lived her life.
For the past several years she worked alongside her husband Wayne as owners of Timber Ridge Golf Course. She took the skills she developed as a homemaker and used them on a grander scale to create an atmosphere of hospitality for the golfers and the community at large. She will be missed by all who knew her, but will live forever in their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her son, Aaron Strickland,3 sisters and 4 brothers.
Her survivors include her husband of 51 years; Wayne Strickland, children; Kaye Strickland Cash (Dale), Shaye Strickland Thompson (Terry), Ronnie Strickland (Tracy), Donnie Strickland (Gina), sister; Chris Key (Jimmy), grandchildren; Kristi, Mark and Sam Thompson, Tristian, Dylan, Devin, Natalie, and Ashley Strickland, Corey Powell, Damon and Hayley Strickland, Destiny, Timothy and Charity Cash, great-grandchildren; Callie Thompson, Kaydance and Analyn Pettus, 107 nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
