Sybil Noel Fendlason passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Talladega, AL at the age of 94. Her family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A funeral ceremony will be held in her honor at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at First Methodist Church of Talladega with Ted Peterson officiating. Interment will follow directly after the service at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Fendlason was born in Almond, AL on February 10, 1930 to Garland and Zora Noel. Her family moved to Talladega in 1940. She graduated from Talladega High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University. She later earned her Master’s of Education Degree from Auburn University and her Advanced Graduate Diploma from the University of Alabama. She taught for 34 years, teaching in the Talladega City, Opelika City, Tuscaloosa City, and Gadsden City school systems as well as at Jacksonville State University. She was a very active member of First Methodist Church of Talladega where she served on the church council, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Iota Circle, Fellowship Class, Prayer Shawl Ministry, and Hilltoppers. Mrs. Fendlason enjoyed working in the yard and her small garden. She also loved cooking, sewing, and doing needle work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald W. Fendlason, brothers, Rev. Edward Noel and Clardy Noel, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Noel.

Mrs. Fendlason is survived by her son, Noel Winston Fendlason (Lynn); granddaughter, McKenna Dziuk (Marshall); great-grandson, Jordan Dziuk, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Bill Noel, John Noel, Larry Barnes, Bo Hollingsworth, Jesse Brown, and Mitch Munroe will serve as pallbearers.
