John Wesley Matthews, 57, of Talladega, AL passed away on Monday, January 06, 2025. A visitation will be held in his honor at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M.

Mr. Matthews was a native of Hammond, Indiana but moved to Talladega in 1985. He loved listening to music, especially classic rock. He also enjoyed hiking, playing video games—particularly golf games with his brother—and reading. Mr. Matthews was a certified scuba diver and an avid University of Alabama fan. He was an ornery soul who loved his family deeply and will be missed greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vicky Matthews.

Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife, Jackie Matthews; sons, Joshua Matthews, Joseph Matthews, and Aaron Blumenshein; 3 brothers; 2 sisters, and a host of nieces and nephews.
