Wayne Davis Hammonds, 87 of Talladega passed away January 3, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Monday January 6, 2025, at Wewoka Assembly Church, with burial in adjoining cemetery. His family will receive friends at the church Monday from 10:30- 12:30pm. Keith Owensby will officiate the service.
He was a founding member of Wewoka Assembly Church, graduated from Winterboro High School where he played on the basketball team. U.S. Army Veteran and he was retired from Talladega Foundry after 25 years of service. He was involved in his community and his church. Wayne enjoyed and took pride in his cattle farm.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Magouyrk Hammonds, his daughter and her husband, Trina Hammonds Whitworth (Darren), two grandsons, Walker and Brady, sister, Rita Hammonds Nabors (Robert), and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lee and Evie Hammonds, sister Jean Bates, brothers Gordon Welch Hammonds, Phillip Bruce Hammonds, Earnest Embry Hammonds and Billy Hammonds.
Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will be directing the services.
