John Thomas Rockwell Jr., 84, of Talladega, Alabama was welcomed into The Lord’s Loving Arms on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. A Celebration of His Life will be held in his honor at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Childersburg with Reverend Matt Hilyer officiating. His family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. prior to the service. Military honors with graveside ceremony will be held at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama at 2:00 P.M.
Mr. Rockwell was born in Savannah, Georgia. He grew up in Childersburg and spent most of his life in the Talladega area. He had a great respect and love for our country, a true patriot and proudly served in the United States Army and Alabama National Guard for over seven years. Mr. Rockwell retired from Kimberly Clark after forty-eight years of service. For many years “Tommy” enjoyed serving in the food ministries at his local church by driving the fork lift, unloading and loading food trucks to help people in need. He enjoyed boating, traveling, and had a fascinating interest in all kinds of cars. He was a devout Christian who loved The Lord and his family with all of his Heart. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Rockwell Sr.; mother, Dorothy Rockwell; father-in-law, Wilson Cecil Presley; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Pate Presley; brother, Robert Harold Rockwell; brother-in-law, William Quinn; nephew, Yancey Robinson; brother-in-law, William L. Smith; sister-in-law, Patsy Smith, and
nephew, Kenneth Smith.
Mr. Rockwell is survived by his wife, Ginny Presley Rockwell; daughter, Kristi Paige Rockwell-Tharp (Cameron Tharp); son, John T. Rockwell III; grandson, Tyler Rockwell; granddaughter, Lucy Rockwell; brother, William “Bill” Rockwell (Lynne); sisters, Carla Powell (Craig) and Barbara Quinn; brother-In-law, Joseph Merrill Presley, and many special nieces and nephews.
Jeffrey Smith (Lori), Joel Maxwell (Karen), Derrick Smith (Holly), David McKleroy (Skye), Chris Dukes (Donna), Eric Gunn (Stacy), Barry Husby (Vicki), and Trace Husby will serve as pallbearers.
Peter Wallenfang will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
