Mrs. Sarah Bernice Spangenberg, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Born on March 9, 1932, Sarah Bernice was a beloved lunchroom lady at Pell City High School, where she retired with a full and happy heart.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Harold B. Spangenberg, and by eight siblings and her parents, Marvin and Louise Hyde.
She is survived by her sons, Dwight (Linnie) Spangenberg, Gary Spangenberg, Brad (Pam) Spangenberg; daughter, Tammi (Joe) Turner.
She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren, Heather Spangenberg, Josh (Whitney) Spangenberg, Kayla (Victor) Pollock, Joe (Kelly) Turner, Meagan (Charlie) Scott, Morgan (Caleb) Crocker, and Harold (Stacie) Spangenberg, and she was blessed with seventeen great-grandchildren.
Sarah Bernice was a devoted member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and was also a beloved member of her community where her smile was infectious to anyone that she came across.
Sarah’s legacy will be carried on by the remembrance of her bundles of love and the joy that she brought into the lives of those around her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, October 10, 2024, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 am officiated by Brother Richard Crocker. Interment will be at St. Clair Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Charlie Hayes, Caleb Crocker, Harold Spangenberg, Joshua Spangenberg, Joe Turner, and Chip Reeser. Honorary pallbearers are Hunter Scott, Cayden Scott, Tucker Crocker, Tyler Crocker, Carter Shirey, Dax Spangenberg, and Ezra Spangenberg.
