Sara Lucretia Hurst, 72, of Talladega, AL passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral ceremony will be held in her honor at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega with Josh Henderson and Greg Tankersly officiating. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow directly after the service at Pine Hill Memorial Park.

Lucretia was born in Fort Payne, AL but lived most of her life in Talladega. She graduated Talladega High School in 1970 where she proudly played the flute in the marching band. In her youth, Mrs. Hurst was also known for being an accomplished swimmer who won many blue ribbons while swimming for the local city swim team. She retired from Cheaha Mental Health after 25 years of service, and she was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Mrs. Hurst enjoyed crafting, which included custom-made greeting cards, cross stitching, and sewing. She was also an avid reader and loved gospel music. She was a loving mother and “Nana” who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Turner Jones; stepfather, Sidney Earl Jones; father, Noel David Turner Sr., and brothers, Noel David Turner Jr. and John Morriss Turner.

Mrs. Hurst is survived by her daughters, Suzannah Wright and Jennifer Allison (Jason); grandchildren, Morgan, Sydney, Madalyn, Nolan, and Colin; sister, Amelia Scott (Tom) and Susan Chandler (Burt), and former husband, Johnny Hurst.

Her family would like to offer a special thank you to her caregivers, Jo Allison and Madalyn Wright, and the staff at Aveanna Hospice.

Sam Hall, Jason Allison, Colin Allison, Nolan Wright, Burt Chandler, and Bruce Ramey will serve as pallbearers.
