Billy Dearl Adkins, 88, of Talladega, AL passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. A graveside ceremony will be held in his honor at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 01, 2024 at Pine Hill Memorial Park with Jacky Morgan officiating.
Mr. Adkins was a native of Dothan, AL but moved to Talladega in 1964. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church for many years, and he retired from Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind after 33 years of service. After retiring from AIDB, Mr. Adkins went on to work for 20 more years at TM Cars where he enjoyed getting to socialize and talk to customers. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He was affectionately known as “Daddy Bill” and had a huge heart that always made him worry about and care for everyone. He was a very loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Adkins, parents, Big Mama and Big Daddy, and 8 siblings.
Mr. Adkins is survived by his son, Kyle Adkins (Charlotte); grandchildren, Josh Adkins, Nikki Rogers (Rick), and Krystyn Floyd; great-grandchildren, Joey, Addison, Addilyn, Tanner, and Kimber; great-great-granddaughter, Lakelyn, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Troy Garrett, Tony Matson, Tommy Matson, Dallas Cooper, Brad Cooper, and Stevie Waters will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made in his memory to Alabama School for the Deaf and Blind at www.aidb.org.
