Q: How did you meet Gregory?
A: I first met Lane when I applied for a job at Tasty King, where he was my 'boss or manager' and I knew right away that this was going to be a great place to work and that he was going to be a fair boss. All of this proved to be true!
My favorite memory of Lane was of the day one winter and I'd worn a long, down-filled coat to work. Hanging it on the hook in back, because of the color 'pink' and it's bulk, it was hard to miss! After the lunch rush, I went to the back for something and noticed my coat was missing from the hook! I asked Mrs. Polk if she'd seen it when she kind of chuckled and said "I think Lane has it." HUH? Well, I found Lane in the walk-in freezer, in my coat, sorting through the frozen foods, getting ready to place an order. What does one say to your 'boss' who's wearing your coat? HAHA! When he realized I was standing there, he just grinned the biggest grin and said "Dang, girl...this coat is WARM!" He looked so funny in that pink-colored coat, his ears and face red, that all I could do was laugh and ask him to please not get any food on it. From that day onward, whenever he'd have to be in the freezer for any length of time, he'd always say something like "I'm borrowing 'our' coat", ha!
I am so sorry that I didn't see of his passing until now; I'd have loved to have paid my respects.
Lane as one of a kind, one of the kindest, funniest and most caring person that it was my pleasure to know. I am so sorry for the family's loss. May he rest in eternal peace!
