Langon Wilson “Buddy” “Candy Man” Evans, 89, of Talladega, AL passed away at his home on Monday, July 01, 2024. His family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega on Friday, July 05, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A funeral ceremony will be held in his honor at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 06, 2024 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega with Rev. Raymond Stewart and Rev. Brad Bridges officiating. Interment will follow directly after the service at Pine Hill Memorial Park.

Mr. Evans was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. He worked in the weaving department at Bemis Brother’s Mill until it closed. He then worked in the dietary department at Citizen’s Hospital until he retired in 1997. Retirement enabled him to devote more time to making and selling delicious candies, so he became affectionately known to many as “Candy Man”.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Idell Mitchell Evans; parents, Early J. and Iola Lumpkin Evans; sisters, Doris Frizzell, Montez Allen, Catherine Carwile, Mary Raney, Jewell Evans, Lina Meadows, and Christine Carter; brothers, Clarence Evans and E.J. Evans Jr., and granddaughter, Karina Evans.

Mr. Evans is survived by his children, Sherry Bridges (Brad), Donald Evans, and Sandra Evans; grandchildren, Brad Bridges Jr. (Brittany), Bobby Adamson (Diana), Deidre Rainwater (Keith), Marshall Bridges (Tori), Lindy Bridges, and Brandon Evans; great-grandchildren, Jacob Adamson, Tiffany Adamson, Emmalyn Johns, Wyatt Bridges, Kennedy Bridges, Gabriel Adamson, Kaelyn Rainwater, and William Bridges; brother-in-law, George Mitchell (Elaine); sisters-in-law, Rosie Shulch (Michael), Arleen Mitchell, and Annette Evans, and a host of nieces and nephews.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers while his nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
