Obituary of Billy Gene Russell

Billy Gene Russell, 75, of Talladega, AL passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, June 27, 2024. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Billy was a man who gave his life to many services, brotherhoods, charities, and endeavors (that he accomplished with great skill). He is deserving of a preeminent accolade, with the amount of pain, courage and strength that he has proven through in his life. He was a Vietnam War Veteran, and a POW. He stood by his country and most certainly his brothers, as well as they did him. He was a man of reciprocated respect. He is preceded by his mother, Dorothy “Polka Dot” Hanks, and his father, Walter Frank Russell. Mr. Russell has left behind his wife, Jewel Russell. He is also survived by his sisters, Lisa Jones (Terry) and Judy Gray (Jack), children, Norman Hanks, Caleb Hanks, Jewel G. Decker (John), and David Griffin (Tonya), and grandchildren, Andrew Decker (Melissa), Brandy D. Hardwick (Cody), Tad Griffin (Jackie), Timmy, Daniel, and Caroline.
