Sarah Will McDowell,81, of Talladega, AL passed away at her home on Saturday, June 08, 2024. A funeral ceremony will be held in her honor at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega with Bill Ayres officiating. Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. McDowell was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega where she met her husband, Billy, at the skating rink when they were just teens. She was a member of Eden Westside Baptist Church. She spent many years volunteering with Compassionate Friends, Al-Anon, and a local hospice. She was a very family-oriented person who devoted her entire life to taking care of her children, grandchildren, and everyone else. She even served as a den mother and in the concession stand at the ballfield in her younger years. Mrs. McDowell loved camping trips to Lake Wales at Uncle Joe’s Fishing Camp in Florida. She also enjoyed dancing, especially the Jitter Bug. Her husband and family were the most important thing to her, and she was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Lillian Patterson, son, Mark McDowell, and siblings, Leon, Donald, Bill, Arthur, and Frances.

Mrs. McDowell is survived by her husband of 63 years, Billy McDowell; daughters, Lori Dunn (Wayne) and Vicky Curlee (Jeremy); son, Steve McDowell (Bonnie); sister, Patsy Isbell; brother, Larry Patterson (Jackie); grandchildren, Azure Caudle (Denny), Chris Boyett, Jessica Pyron (Kevin), Bobbi Smith (Michael), Sorrell Dunn, Amber McDowell, Derek McDowell (Lyndsey), Tatum McDowell, Deidre Pruitt (Joseph), Autumn Curlee, and Justin Curlee; great-grandchildren, Riley, Matthew, Austin, Kaleb, Jada, Addison, Beckett, Isabella, Emmy, Dawson, TJ, Landon, Yianna, Easton, Jailyn, Cameron, and Carson; 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
