Jane Shropshire Carney, 77, of Munford, AL passed away in Anniston, AL on Tuesday, April 02, 2024. Her family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega on Monday, April 08, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A graveside ceremony will be held in her honor at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 09, 2024 at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo with Travis Ford officiating.

Mrs. Carney was a native of Talladega County and graduated from Winterboro High School. She lived various different places during her husband’s time serving in the United States Air Force. She was a proud military wife and stay at home mom who loved volunteering at the youth center when her children were young. Mrs. Carney loved children and could always be found doing something for the youth in her community whether it was by keeping score at the baseball games or serving as a den mother for the Cub Scouts. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Her hobbies included doing puzzles and reading. She was also an avid University of Alabama football fan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Alan Carney, parents, Herbert and Irene Shropshire, and 5 siblings.

Mrs. Carney is survived by her sons, Keith Carney (Karen) and Michael Carney (Summer); daughter, Hope Godbe (Jerry); 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Shropshire, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
