Obituary of Cedric Bee Lee Phillips

Mr. Cedric Bee Lee Phillips, 90, formerly of Rainbow City and Ragland, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
Mr. Phillips graduated from Ragland High School. He joined the United Stated Air Force at the age of 17. He served his nation in the Korean War and retired from the Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force, he received a MS degree as well as an EdS degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He worked in public education and later retired from National Cement Company in Ragland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.Z. and Martha Phillips; his daughter, Sue Phillips Ezell; grandson, Barry Stephens; and stepson, Jason Newton.
He is survived by his wife of over forty years, Sarah Thrash Phillips; children, Cedria “Dee” King, Lexie Stephens, and Harley (Dana) Phillips; prized stepson, Joseph (Lori) Newton; grandchildren, Raymond King, David Stephens, Brandon Stephens, Justin Stephens, Stephanie (Chris) Parsell, Brandy (Huy) Dang, Marie (Jonathan) Aldrege, Haley (Josh) Hudson, Haven Phillips, Hayden (Connor) McDonald, and Declan Newton; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home at Pell City from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
A funeral service will be held at Usrey Funeral Home at Pell City at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, with Bro. Chris Terrell and Bro. Shon Phillips officiating.
A committal service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. The cemetery requests that you arrive no earlier than 1:40 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make donation to White Springs Baptist Church building fund in Rainbow City, Alabama.
