Obituary of William Brewer

William E. “Bill” Brewer, 72, of Lincoln, AL, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, passed away at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL, on March 6, 2024. His family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 P.M. A funeral ceremony will be held in his honor at the funeral home on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Randy Howell officiating. Interment will follow at Plum Springs Cemetery in Eastaboga, Alabama. Mr. Brewer loved God, family, and country. He is a Holy Spirit Catholic Church member in Montgomery County, Alabama. His sponsor was Dan Leuhrs, and his priest was Fr. Frances from Kenya. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of his alma mater, the University of Alabama. He also enjoyed golf, fishing, and traveling. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the U.S. and abroad. He graduated from the University of Alabama and worked in the writing and publishing business and automotive industry management. He was proud of his children, grandchildren, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallis E. Brewer, and Mary A. Brewer; sister Mary Gossett; brothers Wallis Brewer, Ronnie Brewer, and Paul Brewer. Mr. Brewer is survived by his daughters, Brett Szymendera (Andy) and Blair Clanton (Paul); five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Anderson, and Anna Szymendera, as well as Miles and Bailey Clanton; and siblings, Linda Breeden and Bruce Brewer; and friend Nora Cammack. Darrell Ingram, Seth Ingram, Evan Ingram, Jimmy Hugh White, Ronnie Winton, Mike Willbanks and Phil Smith serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Justin Brewer, Bruce W. Brewer III, Anderson Szymendera, Dan Leuhrs, and Tim Hocutt. The family expresses its sincerest gratitude for the love, support, and prayers of family and friends. Bill knew he was loved.
