William “Bill” Clarence Hurst, Jr., of Birmingham, formerly of Talladega, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the age of 81. A graveside ceremony will be held in his honor at Pine Hill Memorial Park on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Ernie Willis officiating. His family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. prior to the service.
Bill was a 1960 graduate of Talladega High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama in 1964 and his Pharm.D from Auburn University in 1967. He was the owner and operator of Buy Wise Pharmacy from 1969 until 2007. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Talladega where he served as deacon and on other committees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Clarence Hurst, Sr. and Alice Parker Hurst; his brother, Bob Hurst, and his son, Joel Andrew Hurst.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Sandra Jones Hurst; son, David Hurst (Angie); daughter, Corrie Weiss (Scott); daughter-in-law, Shannon M. Hurst; four grandsons, DJ Hurst, Zach Hurst, Drew Hurst, and Will Weiss, and nieces and nephews, April McWilliams Chandler, Michael Burt, Lisa Burt Wallace, Abbie Hurst, and Logan Hurst.
DJ Hurst, Zach Hurst, Drew Hurst,Will Weiss, Rob Clardy, and Stephen Chandler will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Hurst’s family requests that donations be made in his memory to Teen Challenge, P.O. Box 151, Lincoln, AL 35096.
