Mrs. Dorothy Anne Payne Doak, 86, of Pell City, Alabama, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in the presence of her beloved family (children, grandchildren, and caregivers).
Dorothy was a compassionate, devoted teacher for over three decades and was known as a passionate educator that lit the candle of hope, love, and inspiration in the hearts of her students who, in turn, continue to spread their light to countless others. Her unwavering faith was exemplified through her dedication to God and spreading his word her entire adult life. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her family is keenly aware of how precious they were to her and she leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-seven years, Perry Joe Doak. Their relationship was the epitome of a perfect marriage. They took care of each other physically, emotionally, and spiritually from day one.
She is survived by her daughters, Robyn Thomas (Bill) and Dee Dee Gordon; grandchildren, Katie Fiquett, Jack Fiquett, Rick Gordon, Casi Cotney (Ross), and Anna Thomas; great-granddaughter, Hannah Ivey; soon-to-be born great-granddaughter, Emlyn Claire Cotney; and her beloved canine companion, Nelson.
The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Usrey Funeral Home - Pell City with Pastor Ava Rozelle officiating, followed by committal at St. Clair Memorial Gardens.
