Obituary of Rev. Robert Gene Hodo

Reverend Robert Gene Hodo went home to be with his Savior Saturday, February 10th, 2024 at 91 years of age. Gene was born September 29th, 1932 to parents Willis Edker Hodo and Linnie Taylor Hodo in Tuscaloosa County, AL. From January 1952 to December 1954, he served his country as an Army Special Forces secret communication specialist stationed in Frankfurt, Germany during the Korean War. Following his military service, Gene returned to the United States and married Sarah Lee on his birthday in 1955. For the next 37 years, Gene faithfully served the Lord in pastoral ministry. Many of his early years were spent planting and building new churches with the Church of God. He served in multiple states, including Indiana, Colorado and Alabama. He ran the good race with endurance and left a legacy of love for God and others on those he led and cared for. He will be greatly missed. Gene is survived by Sarah Lee Hodo, his wife of 68 years, two sons Robert G. (Joy) Hodo and Michael L. (Diana) Hodo, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, as well as three brothers, Paul, Joe, and Gary Hodo. Funeral services will be held at Coosa Valley Church of God on Wednesday, February 14th 2024, with visitation at the Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by service at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be offered online at www.usreyfuneralhome.com.
