Obituary of Shane Edward Nixon
Please share a memory of Shane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mr. Shane Edward Nixon, 46, of Decatur, Alabama (formerly of Pell City), passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024.
Shane was a kind and good-natured soul. He graduated from Pell City High School in 1995 and furthered his education at Jacksonville State University. Following his time at JSU, he worked for several years in Anniston in the social services field assisting the homeless population with obtaining housing. Later, he moved to Decatur where he worked at the Decatur Country Club. Shane’s warm-hearted nature endeared him to those around him, and the connections he formed at the County Club among the staff and members became like a surrogate family to him. One of the cherished aspects of his life was the shared joy he found with his son, Phoenix, as they played video games with one another.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Nixon and Sandra Cross, and by his brother, Michael Elliott.
Shane is survived by his son, Phoenix Christian Nixon; soulmate, Raven Funderburg; sister, Tracy Partain (Richard); uncles, Nick Nixon and Richard “Donut” Nixon; nieces, Emmalee Cross Partain, Rachel Elliott, and Megan Elliott; and nephews, Cole Daffron (Mariah) and Colton Partain.
A graveside service will be held at Valley Hill Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, with Bro. Vint Arnold officiating.
