Obituary of Robert Langdon Goray

Robert Langdon Goray, 59, of Talladega, Alabama passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024 at his home. Robert was born March 31, 1964 to Horace Emory “Pete” Goray and Mildred Alice Dobson Goray in Talladega, Alabama. He was a lifelong resident of Talladega, and a 1982 graduate of Talladega County Training School. In addition to playing football for TCTS, he also played softball for Hepzibah Baptist Church, where he was a lifelong member. Robert was a dedicated employee of Waste Management where he had been employed for over 30 years at the time of his passing. He previously served as a member of the Renfroe Volunteer Fire Department. Robert was a dedicated husband, loving father and Pawpaw and devoted brother and son who put the needs of his family above all else. He was the epitome of “a good ole boy”. He never met a stranger and loved running into old friends to catch up. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Mildred Goray, brothers Jerry and Joe Goray, sister Darlene Hill, niece Kayla Morgan, mother-in-law Sue Curtis, and brother-in-law Leon Lee. Robert is survived by his wife, Amy House, sons Langdon (Danielle) Goray, Ladelle Goray, and Tristan House; grandchildren Emery, Abel, and Scarlett Goray; sisters Jan Goray, Diane Morgan, Carolyn Lee, and Mary (Greg) Denson, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services for Robert will be Monday, January 8, 2024 at Hepzibah Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. with Frankie “Beaver” Tinsley officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega from 6 to 7 p.m. Pallbearers will be sons, Langdon and Ladelle Goray, Christian Adams, Brody Nowland, Josh Nowland, and Kevin Hubbard. Honorary Pallbearers are Jerrod Nowland, Adam Pennington, Greg Martin, Sam Marston, Dennis Goray, Tristan House, Jeff Hubbard, David Bishop, and Paul Wilson. Usrey Funeral Home, Talladega, will direct the service.
