Mr. Gary “Skeet” Pender, 81, of Cropwell, Alabama, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024.

Mr. Pender loved to work, garden, and frame pictures. He also loved to socialize and eat at Legend’s BBQ and Jack’s. He could often be found there in the morning and during lunch hours.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela McKee Pender; grandchildren, Savannah Pender and Hope Youngstrom; sisters, Karen Pender and Ann Pender; and his parents, Carlos and Edna Pender.

He is survived by his children, Michelle Dickey (Scott); Janelle Pender; Heath Pender; Philip Pender (Nicki); grandchildren, Reagan Weaver(Steven), Madison Pearce (JR), Trey Dickey, Austin Morrow (MaKenna), Aaron Morrow, Adam Morrow, Nathan Pender, Andrew Pender, Luke Pender, Ethan Pender, Kristen Haggard (Kyle), Kaylee Hart (Shawn), Michael Youngstrom, and Garrison Youngstrom; five great-grandchildren; and brothers, Wayne Pender (Judy) and Alton Pender.

The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024.

The funeral service will be held at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024.

The committal service will be held at Forest Grove Cemetery in Pleasant Grove, Alabama at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024.

The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of Kirkwood by the River, Affinity Hospice, and Comfort Keepers for the great care during Mr. Pender’s final days.
